my jc experience by XY

Curious and excited, we got on the school bus to Nanyang Junior College at dawn. What impressed me first was the beautiful campus. To be frankly, it was more advantageous and beautiful than most of high schools in China. The brilliant facilities provided the students here a brilliant study environment. I even felt a little bit envy of the students here. No wonder a lot of students want to study in Singapore.
After a short stay, we were introduced to our buddies. My buddy’s name was Kwa Yi Hao. He was a prenakan. His mother was from Malaysia and his father was a Singaporean. To my surprise, he could speak a fluent Chinese, which made me feel somehow warm. And then, we chatted about our hobbies and studies. He said that new attendance to JC gave him a lot of pressure. He had to spend most of his spare time doing homework. And he was very starving to enough sleeping. Form his expression, I could tell that it was really hard to adjust to a busy life in JC.
One thing that impressed me is their physical exercise. To be specific, Singaporeans concentrate on the muscle power training more. During every PE lesson, they do running, push-ups, shuttle run, and others. Yi Hao was always saying that he would lose his life after the exercise. Every time he really got exhausted. But he accepted this “X training” from his heart. Because he thought that it was worse to be trained to death in the army. Perhaps a lot of Singapore youths think the same. Otherwise, I have read the Li Guangyao's memoirs in my spare time. I learnt why Singaporeans value the physical exercise. Each Singapore citizens are required to know how to use arms. If the Singapore government were occupied, the Singaporeans would not.
Another thing is their attitude to cheating. Once our tutor distributed the homework and there was only one got A plus. Due to it, the tutor told a story about cheat. When he was at university, a professor showed him two papers. One was written on A, B and C, while the other A, B, C and D. The professor asked him to choose who cheated the test. He chose the latter one, which he thought the cheater added a “D” owing to the cheater feeling guilty. Then the professor asked him which one should get a higher mark. The answer was that the former got seven while the latter eight, because no supply, no demand. That is the Singaporean’s attitude to cheating as well as behaving.
Time passed by, we had a great time in Nanyang JC. I really cherish this memory of JC immersion. A good chunk of years later, I will never forget what I have learnt in Nanyang and those JC friends.
